Food Stewardship

Indulgence, refined by responsibility.

At The House of S&M, we believe exceptional food should leave an impression on your guests, not on the land.
Every event we create is guided by intentional sourcing, thoughtful service, and a closed-loop approach to food waste.

A Better Way to Gather

Sustainability is not a trend, it is a responsibility.

When you host an event with The House of S&M, you are choosing a partner who considers not only the experience at the table, but the impact beyond it.

Beautiful food. Thoughtful systems. Lasting impact.

Designed with Intention

• Bamboo plates and compostable service ware whenever possible
• Compostable waste systems implemented at events
• Edible leftovers donated to local organizations
• Event waste actively managed and reduced by our team

A Different Standard of Care

Luxury and sustainability are not opposing ideals, they are inseparable.

From the moment ingredients enter our kitchen to the final plate cleared from your event, we operate with purpose. We design menus that minimize excess, repurpose with intention, and ensure that what remains continues to serve.

This work doesn’t end in the kitchen.
It lives in the small, everyday moments.

Feeding chickens, gathering eggs, and sharing what we can with those around us.
It’s not a separate effort or an added program. It’s simply part of how we live, and how we choose to care for what we’ve been given

Beyond the Table

Our Closed-Loop Kitchen

We proudly utilize the Mill Food Recycler as part of our food stewardship program.

At both private events and within our own kitchen, food scraps are transformed into clean, dry, odorless grounds, eliminating waste while preserving its potential.

At large-scale events, plate waste is collected and processed through this same system, ensuring sustainability is maintained even in high-volume environments.

Those grounds are then fed to our 4-H chickens, completing a full-circle system that returns nutrients back into the food chain. The eggs produced are either shared within our community or donated to organizations such as the Samaritan House.

In just a few short months, this system has diverted over 165 pounds of food waste from landfills.

If you’re planning an event and value intentional, sustainable practices, we would be honored to design with you.

Transparency note: The House of S&M participates in Mill’s affiliate program. This means we may earn a small commission if someone purchases through our link, at no additional cost to them. We only share this because we use the Mill ourselves and it has become a meaningful part of our food stewardship system.
